The Hope College jazz ensembles, joined by acclaimed trumpeter Kerry Moffit as a guest artist, will present 亚洲色吧淎n Evening of Jazz亚洲色吧� on Saturday, April 12, at 7 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
The program will feature various jazz pieces, highlighting classic and contemporary works. The Hope ensembles performing, along with their directors 亚洲色吧� who are members of the college亚洲色吧檚 music faculty 亚洲色吧� include the Jazz Arts Collective, directed by Robert Shipley; the Jazz Guitar Combo, directed by Lee Heerspink; and the Steps Ahead Jazz Combo, directed by Tom Lockwood.
Moffit, a distinguished trumpeter, has performed with jazz legends such as Louis Bellson, Arturo Sandoval, Chuck Mangione, Bobby Shew and The New York Voices. During his military career, he served as the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of the 亚洲色吧淒ixie Players,亚洲色吧� a New Orleans-style traditional jazz group.
Under the direction of Robert Shipley, the Jazz Arts Collective 亚洲色吧� Hope College亚洲色吧檚 premier large jazz ensemble 亚洲色吧� brings a dynamic and creative focus to ensemble communication and improvisation. With a flexible wind section and rhythm-driven energy, this elite group delivers performances spanning the full jazz spectrum.
The program will also feature the Jazz Guitar Combo, led by Lee Heerspink, and the Steps Ahead Jazz Combo, directed by Tom Lockwood. These jazz chamber ensembles specialize in both classic and contemporary jazz, showcasing the improvisational artistry of Hope College亚洲色吧檚 student musicians.
