Hope College faculty member, Gabe Southard, flutist, will perform on Sunday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. in the John and Dede Howard Recital Hall of the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

Along with Southard, the performers will include pianist Mi-Eun Kim and hornist Greg
Bassett. The program will feature works by Dana Wilson, Carl Vine and Georg Philip Telemann.

Southard is an associate professor at Hope, where he conducts the Wind Ensemble,
Concert Band, and the Faculty and Student Collaborative Ensemble. Southard completed his Doctorate
of Musical Arts in conducting at Michigan State University. He has performed with the Madison Symphony
Orchestra and the Lucca, Italy, Opera Orchestra, as well as a number of community orchestras.

Mi-Eun Kim is currently a visiting professor at Hope and completing her doctoral studies
at University of Michigan. She has performed on stages across the country, as well as in Europe and
Asia. She also holds a bachelorɫəs degree in history through the Columbia-Juilliard Exchange program.

Greg Bassett plays with the Holland Symphony and West Michigan Symphony, and
teaches philosophy at Hope. He received degrees from Swarthmore College, New England Conservatory
and Indiana University. He has played with groups such as the Blossom Festival Orchestra, Akron
Symphony Orchestra and Fort Wayne Philharmonic.

The Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts is located at 221 Columbia Ave., between Ninth and 10th streets.
