The film ɫɜDocumentedɫɝ will be shown at Hope College on Friday and Saturday, April 8 and 9, at 7 p.m. in room 102 of VanderWerf Hall, with audience discussion following.

ɫɜDocumentedɫɝ chronicles the journey of Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist Jose Antonio Vargas, who announced his status as an undocumented immigrant in the New York Times Magazine in 2011.  Vargas came to the United States from the Philippines in 1993 at age 12.  Since the publication of the essay, he has traveled across the country and spoken at hundreds of events.  As he connected with others, he was prompted to reconnect with his mother, who he had not seen in 20 years.

The audience discussion will be facilitated by Hope faculty members Rodrigo DeGrau Amaya and Chuck Green.  The presentation is sponsored by collegeɫəs Black Student Union, Latino Student Organization, Hopeɫəs Asian Perspective Association, chapter of the Theta Gamma Pi Sorority and Office of Multicultural Education, and is a collaboration with the Student Activities Committeeɫəs weekly film series.

Admission is free with a Hope identification and $2 for the general public, with all proceeds donated to Blessing Not a Burden, a campaign launched by the Christian Reformed Churchɫəs Office of Social Justice to re-focus the conversation in the U.S. about the topic of immigrants and refugees.

VanderWerf Hall is located at 27 Graves Place, between 10th Street and Graves Place and Central and College avenues.
