Staff Retirees Devote More Than 250 Years Helping Make Hope

Representing departments across the college, the 12 staff members retiring this year have devoted a combined 250 years-plus to doing the essential work of keeping Hope running ɫɔ the computers and vehicles, the offices and programs ɫɔ and the campus a welcoming, safe, clean and even homelike place for students, faculty, staff and visitors.

Hope College to Hold Baccalaureate and Commencement on May 5

Baccalaureate and Commencement for Hope Collegeɫəs Class of 2024 are scheduled for Sunday, May 5. Commencement will take place at 3 p.m. at Ray and Sue Smith Stadium, and Baccalaureate at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

Anchors of Hope: Honoring Hopeɫəs Eight Newest Faculty Retirees

The words penned by the Rev. Albertus C. Van Raalte when establishing the Pioneer School from which Hope grew are among the collegeɫəs most foundational: education as an ɫɜanchor of hopeɫɝ for the future. Through all the decades since, that promise has been shepherded by generations of faculty mentors who have not only been at Hope, but in a real sense have been and are Hope. Across campus ɫɔ in the classroom, in the laboratory, on the stage, on the playing field and in countless ways between and beyond ɫɔ for a combined 205 years, the eight faculty retirees honored here have embodied and helped realize the vision of transforming tomorrow by shaping young lives today.

Hope College Choirs to Present ɫɜSongs for Peaceɫɝ Concert on April 20

The Hope College Chapel Choir, College Chorus and SPERA vocal ensembles will perform both separately and together during their final concert of the school year, presenting a program with the theme ɫɜSongs for Peaceɫɝ on Saturday, April 20, at 3 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts.

Hope Presenting Staged Reading of ɫɜYoung Americansɫɝ on April 16

In celebration of Asian, Asian-American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Month, the Hope College Many Voices Project will present a staged reading of ɫɜYoung Americansɫɝ by Lauren Yee on Tuesday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m. in Schaap Auditorium of the Jim and Martie Bultman Student Center.

Hope College TRIO Upward Bound is the longest-running Upward Bound program at a private college in the country. Its 55th Anniversary Gala: Living Legacies on April 12, however, will not be about longevity but instead will focus on the thousands of lives that have been transformed.
